Claude now controls your desktop — points, clicks, and scrolls to complete tasks
Anthropic's Claude can now take over your mouse and keyboard to complete tasks on your desktop. When no API or integration exists, it navigates your screen directly — opening files, clicking buttons, and filling forms.
Original sourceAnthropic just crossed a line that most AI companies have been dancing around: Claude can now physically control your computer.
The feature, rolling out to Claude desktop app users, lets Claude point, click, scroll, and type on your screen when there's no direct integration available. Need to fill out a form in an app that doesn't have an API? Claude will navigate it for you.
Key details: - Asks permission before every action sequence - You can watch everything it does in real-time - Can be assigned tasks from your phone to handle on desktop - Works with any application — not just browsers
The permission model is critical here. Claude doesn't just start clicking around — it proposes an action plan, you approve it, and then it executes while you watch. You can interrupt at any time.
This is essentially Anthropic's answer to "computer use" that they've been developing since 2024, but now productized and polished for everyday use.
The implications for workflows are massive. Instead of building integrations for every app, Claude becomes a universal adapter that can operate any software through the same interface you use.

“I've been waiting for this. I spend hours doing repetitive tasks across apps that don't talk to each other. If Claude can handle the copy-paste-click workflow between tools, it saves me 2+ hours daily.”
The Skeptic
Reality Check
“Impressive tech, but I'm concerned about reliability. One misclick on the wrong button and you've got a problem. The permission model is good, but fatigue will set in — people will start auto-approving everything.”

Big Picture
“This is the bridge between AI agents and the real world of software. Most business software will never have AI integrations. Desktop control makes every existing app AI-accessible overnight. Game-changing infrastructure play.”
